Adaptive Environment-Aware Threshold for Passive and Wireless SAW Resonant Sensors

Passive and wireless surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonant sensors are extensively used in harsh environments. The response signal is affected by the different characteristics of various wireless environments. Accordingly, the detection threshold constitutes a crucial process in sensor detection. This paper investigates an adaptive environment-aware threshold determination algorithm for SAW resonant sensors based on the characteristics of wireless environments in order to detect sensors as accurately and reliably as possible with maintaining the false alarm rate under controlled limits in the unknown wireless environments. The efficiency of the algorithm is verified by experiments. The results indicate that an improved SAW sensor detection and anti-interference capabilities are achieved.
