•Dendritic Cells (DCs) are crucial arbiters of the immune response.•DCs were significantly depleted in OSA patients as compared to controls.•DCs abatement coexists with an inflammatory milieu and increased oxidative burst.•Depletion of mDC2 and pDC subtypes is correlated with the expression of IL-6.
