Molecularly imprinted composite cryogel for extracorporeal removal of uric acid.

•A cryogel embedded with nanoparticles was prepared for uric acid adsorption.•The nanoparticles were prepared by molecular imprinting.•The uric acid adsorption capacity of the cryogel was high (687.6 mg UA /g at 25 °C).•Cryogel treatment does not affect blood coagulation parameters.•The cryogel has also an allowable effect on blood cell counts.
