Electronic health records implementation in Morocco: Challenges of silo efforts and recommendations for improvements.

•Adoption of electronic health records in developing countries is scarce.•We use an interpretive methodology to examine the state of health informatics in Morocco.•Identification of the silo challenges faced by each health center of the Moroccan health system.•Proposing guidelines to alleviate these challenges and develop an interoperable and sustainable national eHealth system in Morocco.•Aligning the proposed guidelines with the World Health Organization toolkit for an eHealth strategy to further benefit developing countries.
