摘要
•Membrane tension increased by hypo-osmotic stress reduces syndecan-1 expression.•The reduction of syndecan-1 is transient and associated with actin depolymerisation.•Ions and glucose do not interfere with the osmoregulation of syndecan-1.•Depolymerising actin maintains syndecan-1 at a reduced level, whereas stabilisation of the actin suppresses the reduction.
