Ocular preservation through limited tumor excision combined with ALA-PDT in patients with periocular basal cell carcinoma.

•Treatment of periocular basal cell carcinoma by surgery combined with topical aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy may reduce the rate of recurrence.•This protocol can maintain optimal appearance and function of involved eyelids.•In long term follow-up, patients are satisfied with the function of eyelids and cosmetic outcomes.
