Relationship of family history conditions and early signs of autism spectrum disorder in low and high-risk infants

•We compared family history conditions of infants at high-risk and low risk for ASD.•We examined the relationship between family history conditions and scores on an ASD screener.•High-risk infant group had significantly more family history conditions than the low-risk group.•Family history conditions such as language disorders and depression were correlated with ASD screener scores.•Finding suggest that family history information may help predict early ASD signs and identify etiological pathways.
