Undetected uterine rupture during induction of labor for intrauterine fetal demise using epidural anesthesia

•Uterine rupture is a rare but catastrophic complication of pregnancy.•It requires high index of suspicion, particularly in the absence of fetal heart rate monitoring.•Epidural anesthesia may be of benefit in timely recognition of the pathology.
