摘要
The elastic light-trail technology reigning the recent trend for data communication in elastic optical network (EON) prominently. Here, the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is the promising technology that implements the elasticity in spectrum domain. The reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexors (ROADMs) and bandwidth variable Wavelength Selective Switches (WSSs) together build up the backbone for optically switched and spectrum varying elastic lightpath. Moreover, Add Drop Couplers (ADC) and optical ON/OFF switches (OS) are integrated components in an elastic optical network that facilitate actual elastic light-trail implementation. In this regard, we have considered the adequate network cost incurred by light-trail setup process in a large EON and investigated an alternative logical approach (Multi − hopNearestElasticLightpath − MNEL) for dynamic traffic grooming. In this study, we have focussed on a dynamic minimum cost route that is an alternative of shortest path which is considered to avoid highly loaded shortest path or faulty link(s) met along the shortest path. A multi-hop nearest elastic lightpath is an alternative route setup along multiple existing elastic lightpath nearest to the shortest lightpath such that it incurs less spectrum resources than the newly created shortest lightpath. Moreover, it is also possible to configure a MNEL for a long-haul traffic demand, where the shortest path at an instance does not have sufficient spectrum resources to serve the traffic demand or faulty link(s) are encountered along the shortest path. However, in this work, we have investigated optical spectrum utilization efficiency for proposed MNEL, existing elastic light-trail (Multi − hopElasticLight − trailalgorithm − MELT) and elastic lightpath (Multi − hopelasticLightpathalgorithm − MEL) and perform a series of simulations for comparison measurements under uniform and non-uniform distribution of traffic demands over the entire physical topology.
