•The maximum unidirectional volt-seconds is calculated based on the current design of CFETR.•The influences of different equivalent resistivities of blanket components on CFETR ohmic breakdown are evaluated, giving the minimum equivalent resistivity needed for breakdown.•The influences of different positions of blanket components on CFETR ohmic breakdown are evaluated, showing few influences.
