Modeling of the molten blast furnace slag particle deposition on the wall including phase change and heat transfer

•Single slag impacting on the wall undergoes spreading, retracting, and stabilizing.•Splashing and remelting occurs in sequence when the second particle collides.•The dimensionless correlation of spread factor is obtained to predict deformation.•The correlation about maximum of shear stress on the wall is established.
