•When visibility is poor, amplifying spatialized sound sources located on the user's head sagittal axis (i.e. Audio Focus interaction) increases their detection with respect to only spatialized sound sources.•When visibility is poor, Audio Focus interaction coupled with vibrotactile feedback to add information on the vertical position of spatialized sound sources increases their detection with respect to only spatialized sound sources.•When visibility is poor, Audio Focus interaction coupled with vibrotactile feedback to add information on the vertical position of spatialized sound sources increases their detection with respect to Audio Focus interaction without vibrotactile feedback.
