Extraction/adsorption as applied to the dearomatization of white mineral oil

•A process comprising extraction units coupled to cyclic adsorption units was studied.•Cyclic adsorption was used to regenerate the solvent of extraction.•Dearomatization of white mineral oil was chosen as example.•Thermodynamic and kinetic parameters of extraction and adsorption were measured.•Global performance of extraction/adsorption was assessed by dynamic simulation.
