Evaluation of Bacillus velezensis NKG-2 for bio-control activities against fungal diseases and potential plant growth promotion

•Bacillus velezensis NKG-2 secreted the fungal cell wall degrading enzymes and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).•It significantly reduced the disease severity of Fusarium oxysporum wilt disease on tomato plants both under in vitro and in vivo conditions.•It could produce indole-3-acetic acid and siderophore, and plant growth promotion on tomato plants by this antagonistic strain was also significant.•It possessed two good properties such as antifungal and plant growth promoting activities which were definitely important for agriculture.
