In situ detection of neurotransmitters and epileptiform electrophysiology activity in awake mice brains using a nanocomposites modified microelectrode array

•A novel implantable MEA was developed for Glu, DA, spikes and LFPs detection.•The MEA with Pt/rGO nanoparticles have high sensitivity and selectivity.•Abnormal chemicals level and epileptiform discharge were discovered in awake mice.•Early abnormalities in neural activities have potential to predict seizures.
