Application of intraoperative ABR during middle ear surgery to predict improvement in hearing

•Our study developed a reliable hearing monitoring system during the middle ear surgery.•Our findings indicated that preoperative chirp ABR threshold was highly correlated with PTA threshold in patients under general anesthesia in the operating room.•Intraopeartive chirp ABR can predict hearing improvement immediately after surgery and might help avoid revision surgery.
