Epigenetic dysregulation of genes related to synaptic long-term depression among adolescents with depressive disorder and sleep symptoms

•There is a link between sleep, depression and DNA methylation.•This link is seen in a clinical sample of adolescents.•Altered DNA methylation is enriched in genes related to synaptic plasticity.•The effect is seen even when case–control status was controlled for.
