Allergic asthma is characterised by the presence of circulating specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) or positive skin prick test (SPT) to common aeroallergen. Type-2 inflammatory (T2) cytokines stimulates IgE synthesis in response to aeroallergen, resulting in chronic eosinophilic (Eos) airway mucosal inflammation.Footnotes This manuscript has recently been accepted for publication in the European Respiratory Journal .
