Rutile RuO2 dispersion on rutile and anatase TiO2 supports: The effects of support crystalline phase structure on the dispersion behaviors of the supported metal oxides

•Rutile RuO2 disperses better on rutile r-TiO2 than on anatase a-TiO2 support.•RuO2 has thus a stronger interaction with r-TiO2 than with a-TiO2 support.•RuO2/r-TiO2 owns richer facile oxygen sites and higher reactivity than RuO2/a-TiO2.•Support crystalline structures influence the dispersion of supported metal oxides.•A like-disperses-like rule is proposed for the supported metal oxide systems.
