Waterlogging and coastal salinity management through land shaping and cropping intensification in climatically vulnerable Indian Sundarbans

•Coastal low land suffers from waterlogging, salinity and fresh water scarcity.•Land shaping reduced salinity, facilitates drainage and improved productivity.•These technologies enhanced farm income and increased cropping intensity.•Land shaping systems had lower water footprint than farmers’ practice of land use.•The NaCl and MgSO4 are dominant soluble salts in study region.
