摘要
Introduction: Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is associated with impaired leg function and with leg muscle atrophy, highlighting the importance of muscle size. The understanding of longitudinal changes in skeletal thigh muscle area and individual muscle compartments in PAD patients with and without diabetes is limited. Methods: In this secondary analysis of the Effect of Lipid Modification on Peripheral Artery Disease after Endovascular Intervention Trial (ELIMIT), we selected magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans from baseline and 2-years of 48 participants with suitable image quality. MRI scans of the distal thigh were traced by a single reader who quantified thigh muscle areas across multiple slices. Individual muscles were averaged from each scan and combined into three muscle groups: quadriceps, lateral muscles, and hamstrings. Intra-reader reproducibility of muscle tracings was assessed with the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) using a 2-way model. Results: At baseline, there were no differ...
