General health of adults with autism spectrum disorders – A whole country population cross-sectional study

•Adults with autism spectrum disorders are more than five times more likely to have poor health.•Poor health is common across the entire lifecourse for adults with autism spectrum disorders.•Older people and women with autism spectrum disorders are more likely to have poor health.•The influence of autism spectrum disorders on poor health is even greater than that of older age.
