Compact micro-Pirani vacuum sensor based on series diodes without heating structure

•A simple sensor structure with self-heating effect of diode is proposed.•The sensor size is reduced by removing dedicated heating structure and optimizing the fabrication process.•High performance is obtained by employing series diodes.•The proposed sensor has high sensitivity and low power consumption.
