Research on the Quantitative Evaluation Method of Wind Power and Photovoltaic Power Curtailment in Real-time Market Transactions

China is at the transition period of electricity market, and the marginal cost advantage of renewable energy including wind power and photovoltaic power during curtailment period can't be reflected under the current medium - and long-term electricity trading mechanism. The above reason has led to the renewable energy power curtailment in the “Three North” regions in recent years. This paper analyzes the distribution characteristics of renewable energy power curtailment under different power levels. The feasibility of renewable energy curtailment participation in electricity market is studied, and transaction process of renewable energy power curtailment participation in electricity market is established. Based on the time-series production simulation method, a quantitative evaluation model of renewable energy participation in electricity market transactions is established considering the constraints of wind power and photovoltaic power resource, peak load regulation capability of thermal power and hydro power, delivery capacity of tie lines, and real-time power balance. Based on a provincial power system, an annual case calculation is conducted considering renewable energy curtailment participation in electricity market transactions. The calculation results verify the correctness of the model and the effectiveness of the method.
