Inductance Matrix Calculation For Shielded Multiconductor Systems Using An Eigenmode Projection Technique

The inductance matrix of a shielded multiconductor system is determined using a quasi-analytical approach based on an eigenmode projection technique. The proposed formulation expands the static magnetic field in the structure under study in terms of a complete set of solenoidal eigenmodes of a fictitious canonical conducting cavity enclosing the actual structure. The expansion is then used in the Maxwell's curl equation to obtain the eigenmode coefficients upon enforcing the boundary conditions and material profile of the actual problem. The inductance matrix is shown to be directly obtained from the proposed approach matrices, without further post-processing. Results are verified by comparison with full-wave solvers and show excellent agreement.
