摘要
Background: Significant procedural improvements have occurred in diagnostic cardiac catheterization over the past 20 years; consequently the risks of major complications following diagnostic cardiac catheterization are ill defined in the modern era. Aims: We aim to define incidence of death, myocardial infarction, and stroke among patients following diagnostic cardiac catheterization. Methods: Cardiac catheterization procedures (aortic angiography, coronary angiography, left ventricular (LV) angiography, right heart catheterization, right ventricular (RV) angiography, and RV biopsy) from 1/1/2002 through 12/31/2013 were identified using the clinical scheduling system at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. Potential complications were identified through electronic records. Registration was queried to identify all-cause mortality and all events were independently adjudicated by study authors. In-hospital mortality, stroke within 72 hours and myocardial infarction (MI) occurring the same day of the procedure, were consi...
