Fracture behavior of Ni-W alloy probed by in situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction

摘要
•Ni-30 (wt%)W nickel-tungsten alloy was designed for a better strength-ductility tradeoff.•The alloy was in-situ tensile-tested under synchrotron X-Ray diffraction.•Cracks propagating inside W clusters were blunted by the surrounding Ni(W) solid solution.•The synergy between the two deforming phases was tracked via theirs lattice strains.•Five separate domains were identified allowing the description of the mechanical behavior.
