•The modified model is developed to predict condensation phenomenon.•Two novel dehumidification structures are presented.•The PICS with the φ = 5° presents the best dehumidification effect.•The PICS with the φ = 5° succeeds in reducing the wetness loss to 3.06 kJ/kg.
