Strategies For Retaining Key It Professionals

Retaining IT professionals is a key and challenging issue for IT managers. There is no "silver bullet," and retention actions must be tailored to the profile of each employee the organization wants to retain. IT professionals have different reasons for changing jobs, determined by their career goals, relationships within the organization and current attitude to the job. We show how IT employees can be classified into seven types and describe the retention actions that will work best for each type.(2,3)
