Preparation and hydrophobicity improvement of fluorinated poly (styrene-acrylate) / ferrocene composites

•Fluorine containing poly (styrene-acrylate) / ferrocene (FPSA / Fc) composites were prepared by directly blending method.•Vesicles formed after oxidation and microporous appeared after heating process.•Oxidation process increased the hydrophilicity while the heating process increased the hydrophobicity.•The water contact angle (WAC) of composite films increased from 45 to 121° before and after oxidation.
