Open-access cloud resources contribute to mainstream REDD+: The case of Mozambique

•A Mozambique land cover map, produced in GEE, meets IPCC and REDD+ requirements.•ESA CCI prototype map at the forest/non-forest level can aid REDD+ implementation.•Collection of highly representative reference data sets is the priority.•Periodic forest monitoring activities can be facilitated by online cloud computing.
