Is timber haulage safe? A ten year study of occupational accidents

•Age of the logging trucks, rather than their number affected the number of occupational accidents.•Season did not affect the frequency of occupational accidents.•Timber haulage is relatively safe – only 54 occupational accidents happened in ten years.•Young and inexperienced workers were the most endangered group of employees.
