Animals as amplification hosts in the spread of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus: A systematic review and meta-analysis

•This is the first study to evaluate both the infection rate and species of animal susceptible to severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV).•The confirmed-range model is a risk factor for SFTSV infection of domestic animals.•The results of this study provide evidence for the management of specific animal species regarding the process of SFTSV prevention and control.
