Postharvest heat and CO2 shocks induce changes in cuticle composition and cuticle-related gene expression in ‘October Sun’ peach fruit

•Postharvest CO2 and heat shocks caused changes in cuticle of peaches after storage.•Cuticular wax and cutin monomers responded differentially to CO2 and heat shocks.•Expression rates of genes putatively involved in cuticle deposition were affected.
