摘要
Introduction: The Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet is recommended by the American Heart Association to lower blood pressure (BP). We previously reported that the Japan Diet-based DASH (J-DASH) diet (NaCl 6.9 g/day) significantly improved BP, cardiometabolic and inflammatory biomarkers, and behavior-point scale changes in subjects with untreated high normal (HN) BP and stage 1 hypertension in an open-label single-arm trial. Hypothesis: We examine whether the J-DASH diet improves these indices in subjects with both untreated HN-BP and stage 1 hypertension by a randomized controlled trial. Methods: Subjects with untreated HN-BP and stage 1 hypertension were randomly assigned to consume once (J-DASH 1) or twice (J-DASH 2) daily, 5 days a week of the J-DASH diet or their usual diet. The J-DASH diet and usual diet were continued for 2 months after randomization, and for the subsequent 4 months all subjects consumed their usual diets. Each participant’s home BP values were monitored with an auto...
