A Multi-Carrier Frequency Diverse Array Design Method for Wireless Power Transmission

The design and optimization of uniformly-excited and nonuniformly-excited frequency diverse arrays (FDAs) for far-field wireless power transmission (WPT) are addressed. A new optimization-based multi-carrier FDA design method using nonlinear frequency offsets and time-modulated weights is proposed, allowing the energy to be focused over a defined collection region with an optimal end-to-end energy transfer efficiency in the range-angle dimensions. Preliminary numerical results are reported and discussed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed multi-carrier WPT-FDA approach also in comparison with the state-of-the-art WPT design solutions.
