摘要

•Fluorescent CDs were produced from Durian shells without any doping agents.•Extractive compounds in durian shells improved mass and quantum yields of the CDs.•CDs were highly selective towards Fe3+ by forming a non-fluorescent ground complex.•Fe3+ was detected over a concentration range of 0–20 μM with a LOD of 128 nM.
