摘要
The emergence of high concurrency architectures like GPUs, Intel Phi, and multi-core CPUs necessitates reconsideration of many of the algorithms used to simulate plasmas. We have undertaken the development of a multi-species plasma application using both the multi-fluid and particle-in-cell (PIC) representations of the plasma. The simulation of these plasmas on next-generation hardware is encompassed in the EMPIRE code suite, an open source software suite built off Trilinos/Drekar/mini-PIC tools.
