Thermal kinetics for the energy valorisation of polylactide/sisal biocomposites

•An assessment of the thermal and thermo-oxidative behaviour of the biocomposites was performed.•The trigger of decomposition was more sensitive to oxidative conditions.•The thermo-chemical conversions of PLA/sisal were defined by a simplified kinetic triplet.•The feasibility of a joint valorisation of the biocomposites and other plastics was confirmed.
