•Predicting response to radiotherapy (XRT) for bone pain (CIBP) is challenging.•Urinary markers and different imaging techniques have been examined as predictors.•Currently there are no robust biomarkers which predict response to XRT for CIBP.•Some biomarkers show promise but larger studies are needed to confirm this.
