The problem of self-loosening has obviously such a technical and economic relevance for steel and metal constructions, that wedge-lock washers are also intended to be used in the building construction authorities regulated field. The securing effect of the wedge-lock washers constitutes a criterion of usability, which is based on the utilization of a preload. This article discusses the usage of wedge-lock washers for bolted connections with the background of the present standard situation for the building construction authorities regulated field. Furthermore a procedure is introduced by which the usability of the wedge-lock washers can be determined in an experimental and calculating way.
