摘要
Nowadays, diabetes mellitus remains as a public health worldwide problem. In this work, control strategies are proposed to maintain the blood glucose levels of diabetic type 1 patients in the ideal ranges for the sake of its health and quality of life. The first strategy is based on a state feedback but respecting positivity constraints, which in medical terms, is a guaranty of elimination of hypoglycemic episodes for prolonged fasting periods. Besides, an extension of this strategy is developed to achieve disturbance rejection (meal intake) in diurnal periods by coupling it with a proportional, integral and derivative control. The second strategy is a model-based predictive control with impulsive input and regulation towards a target zone. Finally, the performance of both control strategies is assessed in 50 virtual patients extracted from the literature and in the UVa/Padova Simulator approved by the Food and Drug Administration from the United States.
