Petrology and zircon U–Pb dating of meta-calcsilicate from the Jiaobei terrane in the Jiao-Liao-Ji Belt of the North China craton

•Meta-calcsilicates of the Jiaobei terrane occur as irregular blocks in a metamorphic volcano-sedimentary series of TTG gneisses.•The meta-calcsilicates experienced epidote amphibolite facies metamorphism at ∼580 °C/1.08–1.13 GPa.•Magmatic Archean zircon yield 207U-206Pb ages up to 3.04 Ga, major age populations cluster at ca. 2.68 Ga, 2.87 and 2.78.•Metamorphic 207U-206Pb zircon domains of the meta-calcsilicates yield ages of ∼2.5–2.1 Ga.•The meta-calcsilicate was deposited after ∼2.1 Ga on an Archaean basement.
