摘要
•The rate constant for hydrolysis of 2,2,2-trifluoro-3-(trifluoromethyl)oxirane (HFPO) was determined at 279–307 K.•A reactor with a closed circulation system and a two-film model enabled determination of the hydrolysis rate of HFPO.•Hydrolytic products of HFPO differed distinctly between reactions carried out in deionized water and aqueous NaOH.•Much scissioning of CC bonds in HFPO occurred in aqueous NaOH, but it did not in water or aqueous H2SO4.•Removal of HFPO via hydrolysis in clouds is probably not a substantial sink of HFPO.
