Last three millennia Earth’s Magnetic field strength in Mesoamerica and southern United States: Implications in geomagnetism and archaeology

•First attempt to construct the regional intensity paleosecular variation curve.•The regional curve show substantial differences compared with global models.•Two possible geomagnetic jerks are detected.•A time lag between American and Western European curves may indicate the eastward drift.
