The giant Upper Yangtze Pb–Zn province in SW China: Reviews, new advances and a new genetic model

•Pb–Zn deposits in SW China define the giant Upper Yangtze Pb–Zn metallogenic province.•They have high ore grades and medium-low T and salinities, and were association with igneous activities.•The hydrothermal fluids were related to multiple rocks, and both Zn and Cu were sourced from ELIP rocks.•Deposits of this province formed in a compressional zone of a passive margin and are different from MVT deposits.
