Copper-catalyzed chemoselective cross-coupling reaction of thioamides and α-diazocarbonyl compounds: Synthesis of enaminones

•First report of copper-catalyzed coupling of thioamides and diazo compounds for the synthesis of enaminones.•Thioformamide and primary, secondary and tertiary thiomamides can undergo this reaction.•Acceptor/acceptor and acceptor-only substituted diazo compounds are coupling viable partners.•Catalytic extrusion of sulfur is reported.
