Nutraceuticals Neuroprotect Naturally: Alzheimer'S Disease, Parkinson'S Disease, Stroke And Major Depressive Disorder

Abstract The current chapter describes the mental health remedies and neurotherapeutic potential of natural products including dietary supplements, food derivatives, and herbal medicines (or nutraceuticals) either in combination or in isolation. This chapter follows a primary organization using plant species, then chemical structure types, and then specific pharmacological mechanisms of action. This should be of great benefit to the target readers from the drug development and discovery community, with the hope that our contribution will play a central role in this exciting time to develop natural product chemistry further, especially to ameliorate Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, stroke and major depressive disorder.
