摘要

•2D crystals intercalated with purple membranes were first prepared.•The crystallinity and molecular structures of the mother crystal were preserved.•Purple membranes underwent dynamic transitions during crystal growth.•The composite crystal had 10-fold stronger anisotropic second harmonic intensity.•Composite crystals with thousands-fold higher photoconductance were obtained.
