摘要
Alzheimer is a chronic neurodegenerative brain disease that affects mostly elder people. After sixty-five years age, there is an increased probability to develop this kind of dementia that usually starts slowly and worsen over time. The symptoms manifest mostly in a slow decline in memory and other cognitive abilities, interfering seriously with daily life routines. In face of that probable decline, it is necessary to determine if the person is exposed to risk and signal those situations to the person or to other referenced persons as necessary. To accomplish that task, the here proposed system addresses two major problems affecting people with Alzheimer. The first is the tendency to have wandering episodes where a person loses the sense of location and goes out of normal tracks. The other problem is the risk of falling while not knowing how to ask for assistance or being in unknown location. The research hereby presented tracks position and identifies risks associated with falling, by using an intelligent system that detects both wandering outside normal routes and fall associated events.
